10 Dua’s for Laylatul Qadr

The last ten nights of Ramadan are upon us, and amongst these blessed nights is Laylatul Qadr, the night of power.

Laylatul Qadr marks the day that the Quran was revealed to the prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in Mount Hira. It is one of the holiest days in the Islamic calendar, yet despite this, no-one knows what day it falls on.

“We have indeed revealed this in the ‘Night of Power.’ And what will explain to you what the night of power is? The Night of Power is better than a thousand months. Therein come down The Angels and the Spirit by Allah’s permission, on every errand. “Peace!…This until the rise of Morn!”

97:1-5

in Surah Al Qadr, the significance of this date is highlighted. On this day, a multitude of angels, including angel Jibreel, descended on the earth, where he told the prophet (pbuh) ‘Iqra‘ (read) thrice before Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) read the first revelation of Quran despite being illiterate. It is a night better than a thousand months of worship in which our sins can be forgiven and our dua’s answered. It is a night of peace and tranquillity until the break of dawn.

Whilst no-one knows the exact date, it is thought to be on odd nights, and some believe Laylatul Qadr to fall on the 27th night of Ramadan.

Whilst it’s important to seek refuge in Allah, engage in ibadah and do our duties as Muslims everyday, we’ve put together 10 dua’s you can read to maximise the blessings of this powerful date.
